Korn Ferry Tour Championship Relocating to Virginia’s Richmond Region in 2026

2025-10-20

Season finale tournament and PGA TOUR Card Ceremony set for The Federal Club

RICHMOND, Virginia - The Korn Ferry Tour, in partnership with the Henrico Economic Development Authority, Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority, Richmond Region Tourism and the Virginia Tourism Corporation, announced a four-year agreement to bring the Korn Ferry Tour Championship’s season-ending tournament to The Federal Club, in Glen Allen, Virginia. The inaugural event—the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region—will take place October 5-11, 2026, and will feature the climactic PGA TOUR Card Ceremony. The announcement was made Monday morning during a press conference following the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, a PGA TOUR Champions Charles Schwab Cup Playoff Event that concluded on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

“We’re thrilled to announce that the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region will be moving here, beginning next year,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin. “This community has been an incredible host to a PGA TOUR Champions event for a decade, and we’re looking forward to building on the foundation they’ve established in this area. A thank you to each of the local organizations for their partnership in making the Richmond region the new home for our season-finale event, which is highlighted by the PGA TOUR Card Ceremony, the most impactful moment of the Korn Ferry Tour season. We are thrilled for what the future holds here in Virginia.”

The agreement came to life through the collaboration of four tourism and economic development organizations working together to secure the future of professional golf in the greater Richmond area. The Virginia Tourism Corporation fosters a spirit of partnership across the Commonwealth to expand domestic and international in-bound travel, driving revenue and employment. Richmond Region Tourism serves as the destination marketing organization for the greater Richmond area. The Henrico Economic Development Authority advances business development within Henrico, while the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority leads the county’s sports tourism initiatives and facility development.

“We are proud to join our partners in bringing this exciting new chapter of professional golf to the Richmond Region,” said Daniel J. Schmitt, Chair of the Henrico County Board of Supervisors and member of Richmond Region Tourism’s Executive Committee. “Hosting the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship highlights our region’s ability to deliver world-class sporting events that drive tourism and economic growth. The Federal Club will provide an exceptional stage in 2026, and we look forward to building on this partnership and showcasing future venues, including The Crossings in Henrico, as premier destinations for professional golf.”

The Dominion Energy Charity Classic played its 10th, and final, iteration last week at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course. The event has been a staple on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule since its inaugural event in 2016, helping generate more than $14 million for Richmond area charities.

The PGA TOUR has been the event operator of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic since its inception and will transition into the same role for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region.

“Our local team that has managed the Dominion Energy Charity Classic is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue in the same capacity for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship,” said Steve Schoenfeld, Executive Director of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic and soon to be of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. “The support the community has demonstrated over the past ten years has been nothing short of spectacular, so we are excited to be able to remain here and cannot wait to get started on this next chapter of professional golf in the Richmond region.”

The 2026 tournament venue, the Federal Club, an Arnold Palmer designed layout, features bentgrass greens and fairways with Bluegrass/fescue roughs. The course – located in Hanover County, just north of Richmond – stretches over 7,000 yards and plays as a par 72 with eight par 4s, five par 5s and five par 3s.

“We are honored to host the Korn Ferry Tour Championship at the Federal Club,” said Anne Gail Jennings, Owner of The Federal Club. “This season-finale event is a pivotal part of the players’ journey to the PGA TOUR and provides a fantastic showcase not only for our golf course, but for the greater Richmond region, all while making an impact in the community. Our membership is proud to have The Federal Club play host to such a meaningful moment in these players’ careers.”

This event marks a return for the Korn Ferry Tour to this region, having played host to the Henrico County Open from 1993-2008.

The Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region will be the final tournament of both the Korn Ferry Tour Finals and Korn Ferry Tour season. The players who qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region will earn fully exempt status for the 2027 season. The field will not be subject to a 36-hole cut.

At the conclusion of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by Virginia’s Richmond Region, PGA TOUR cards will be awarded to the top 20 players on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. All four rounds of the tournament will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel. This year’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship also saw the PGA TOUR Card Ceremony carried live on the Golf Channel.

The 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season concluded last week at French Lick Resort’s Pete Dye Course with Chandler Blanchet winning the tournament and earning his first PGA TOUR card. Johnny Keefer finished No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, earning an exemption to the 2026 PLAYERS Championship and U.S. Open.
