Dell and Apple Computers revolutionize Henrico County Schools

The Henrico County School Board selected Dell Computers to provide laptops to all middle school students and staff at their April monthly board meeting.  Apple Computer continues to supply the elementary schools and Dell was awarded the middle school contract because of lower costs.  This extraordinary learning initiative began in the 2001 – 2002 school year when Henrico Schools partnered with Steve Jobs at Apple Computer to launch “….the single largest sale of portable computers in education ever.”, The Washington Post.   Henrico Schools seized this opportunity to bridge the digital divide by using technology to incorporate visual and collaborative teaching in turn promoting student learning that reached far beyond the classroom.
