Expansion Assistance

Business First

Business First is an active team of 25 volunteers who interview our local Henrico companies throughout the year to learn more about their successes, obstacles, and the resources they need. Reported directly back to EDA staff, the data from these surveys helps us learn more about local companies and identify ways we can help. The Henrico County EDA can be your main point of contact for these services:

  • Employee Recruiting
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Facility, Utilities, and Equipment Needs
  • Exporting and International Trade
  • Local and State Government Interactions

Economic Gardening

Economic Gardening is an economic development program that helps second-stage companies by delivering customized mentoring to address strategic growth issues. Second-stage companies are defined as having 10-99 employees and $1 million to $50 million in annual revenue.

This customized mentoring and research addresses five key areas for the business: core strategy, market dynamics, innovation, temperament, and qualified sales leads. The research is achieved through commercial databases, geographic information system (GIS) mapping, search engine optimization, and digital marketing.
