Download the Henrico County Schools fact sheet.Henrico County Public Schools was the first school system in the United States to boldly initiate a student-laptop program.  Henrico Schools served as a model to other school districts around the country for a program that put laptop computers into the hands of middle and high school students as well as their teachers.  Here is the number of computers issued for 2010 school year.

  • Apple Notebooks – 11,500 for middle school students and staff
  • Dell Laptops – 14,800 for high school students and staff

Higher Education

Quality education extends well beyond the high school level. Henrico is in the midst of some of the country's best colleges and universities such as the University of Richmond, Randolph-Macon College, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Virginia Union University.  The University of Virginia and The College of William & Mary are only one hour away. Students graduatingNot only do these nationally known universities offer unsurpassed liberal arts educations, they are training expert technicians to fill area high-tech positions.  The School of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University was purposefully formed to meet the needs of the area's most cutting-edge technology firms that need highly skilled engineers, and there is also The Community College Workforce Alliance.
