In 2006-2008, Henrico County had a total population of 289,000 - 152,000 (53 percent) females and 137,000 (47 percent) males. The median age was 37.5 years. Twenty-four percent of the population was under 18 years and 12 percent was 65 years and older.
For people reporting one race alone, 64 percent was White; 27 percent was Black or African American; less than 0.5 percent was American Indian and Alaska Native; 5 percent was Asian; less than 0.5 percent was Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, and 1 percent was some other race. Two percent reported two or more races. Four percent of the people in Henrico County were Hispanic. Sixty-two percent of the people in Henrico County were White non-Hispanic. People of Hispanic origin may be of any race.
